If you’re anything like me, when you come across an interesting website, one of the first things you want to do is find out a little bit about the owner of the site. I may just be a nosy mare, but I think it’s pretty much human nature. Anyhow, for the record, here’s a little bit about me.
I live on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon, UK, with Keith, my partner (aka Best Friend) of almost 30 years and our two gorgeous dogs, Dextor and Suzie. I suspect I may be biased, but I don’t think you could find two more lovable hounds. Dex is almost 10 and takes charge of Suzie, who at 5 years, still has the exuberance of puppyhood.
Our garden is larger than average and a constant work in progress – but don’t they say ‘it’s the journey that’s important, not the destination’? What is important is that it gets better every year and I still love spending time there when we’re at home, whether it’s ‘working’ or relaxing. I’m still raking up last autumn’s leaves, which can, after all be quite therapeutic!
Living on Dartmoor, an area ideal for dog-walking, encourages us to be on the moor with them most days. We spent Christmas day morning walking on Black Down, Dartmoor, in the fall of very deep snow we experienced a week or so earlier, and we had the place to ourselves.
We’re also not far from some fabulous Cornish beaches and when we fancy a change of scenery we’ll often drive out to Watergate Bay, Newquay or Padstow which are just down the road from us.
I’ve always liked the idea of being able to work from home, setting my hours and not answering to anyone else.
Yes, I like being the boss and no, I’ve never been very good at taking orders.
However, for the last 10 years or so marketing on the Internet has been both the most enjoyable and the most lucrative for me.
Some people like the fame (or notoriety) they can garner from their exploits on the Internet and then use that fame as a means of grabbing some limelight. I’m more the sort who happily works away in the corner, helping where I can, but making little fuss, Maybe now the time’s right to raise my profile a bit, so you can expect to hear more from me. I’m going to use this website as a way of passing on what I’ve learned over the past few years. The Internet’s always changing and what worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. I believe the Internet’s starting to grow up and it’s becoming more personal in a nice way.
